Nursing Team

Our practice has two fully qualified RGN practice nurses, Diana and Lucy (maternity leave until September 2018 and represented by Margaret, who has 40 years experience as an RGN) together with two fully qualified Health Care Assistants, Jackie & Anna.

Practice nurses

Practice nurses are qualified and registered nurses. They can help with issues such as contraception, healthy living advice, cytology, blood pressure checks and dressings.  They also check patient's heart with an ECG and lungs by Spirometry when required by the doctors.

The practice nurses run clinics for long-term conditions such as asthma, diabetes, stroke, heart and kidney disease.  They undertake all of our vaccinations including our annual flu clinics that are run on a Saturday morning.

Healthcare Assistants

Jackie Meek

Jackie is an accredited healthcare assistant and takes many of the samples for blood testing.  She has increased her scope to initiate disease monitoring and prevention and is our lead on smoking cessation management and NHS health checks.  Jackie has also undertaken extra training in Cancer care.

Anna-Marie Williams

Anna is an accredited healthcare assistant and in addition to her regular role has undertaken extra training in complex dressings.

Emergency Care Practitioner (Paramedic)

Phillip Jones

Due to the increasing demand for emergency appointments within General Practice and the wider NHS, we have introduced an ECP/Paramedic into the Practice.  Phillip is highly qualified and has many years experience, not only in South West and West Midlands ambulance services, but also in the regional Out of Hours services.  Working closely with both the GPs and Nursing team, he can assess the emergency clinical need of the patient, and triage the medication or care plan requirements going forward.
